Coca-Cola Adds Prebiotic Fiber to Coke Zero Sugar, Sprite Zero Sugar and Fresca
Coca-Cola is piloting versions of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Sprite Zero Sugar and Fresca with 6 grams of prebiotic fiber, starting in late October.
The biggest name in soda is stepping into the gut health aisle. Coca-Cola is piloting prebiotic versions of three of its zero-sugar drinks.
TLDR
- Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Sprite Zero Sugar and Fresca get 6 grams of prebiotic fiber.
- A pilot launches at the end of October.
- It starts in parts of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
- The category is led by Olipop and Poppi, now owned by PepsiCo.
The Products
Each of the three drinks carries 6 grams of prebiotic fiber in a zero-sugar format. The pilot begins at the end of October in parts of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Pricing has not been disclosed.
“For us, innovation starts with the consumer. It’s about understanding what people are looking for, where their interests are going and then using the strength of our brands to create something relevant and compelling,” said Shakir Monin, Coca-Cola’s president of marketing for North America.
A Crowded Category
Prebiotic soda was built by challenger brands. Olipop and Poppi led the way, and PepsiCo now owns Poppi. PepsiCo also launched its own prebiotic cola last summer. Coca-Cola previously entered the space with Simply Pop, under its juice brand.
The company also previewed other 2027 launches, including zero-sugar Powerade flavors, a zero-sugar Vitaminwater grape and a banana Core Power protein shake.
Why It Matters
Fiber is moving from the supplement shelf into everyday drinks. When the core Coca-Cola brands add fiber, functional claims become mainstream. That raises the bar for every beverage brand chasing the gut health shopper.
