Osage Adds Yeast Protein to SolvPro Blends as Whey Runs Short

Osage Food Products has upgraded its SolvPro plant protein blends with Revyve yeast protein, pitching them as an option amid whey shortages.

Whey is scarce, and suppliers are filling the gap. Osage Food Products has rebuilt its SolvPro blends around yeast protein from Dutch supplier Revyve.

TLDR

  • SolvPro now combines yeast, pea and fava bean proteins.
  • The yeast protein comes from Revyve’s Revytal and Thryve ingredients.
  • Three blends target beverages, bakery and grain applications.
  • Osage positions them as an alternative during whey shortages.

Three Blends, Three Jobs

SolvPro 308 is a high-protein, high-solubility blend for beverages. SolvPro 309 adds beta-glucan fiber and B vitamins for immune support, with lower solubility for bakery and grain uses. SolvPro 310 is a fiber-forward blend aimed at longevity and healthy aging, also for bakery and grain.

The Whey Problem

“Consumers still want complete protein sources, but whey protein shortages have put a strain on the marketplace,” said Dennis Reid, vice president of marketing and specialty ingredients at Osage. “Yeast proteins are a whole food, fungal and vegan-friendly protein source that offers another option to fill the market gap.”

Why It Matters

Protein-added products keep multiplying, and whey supply has not kept pace. Blends that pair yeast with pulse proteins give formulators a way to keep protein claims while easing pressure on dairy.
